The Effects of Freeze Thaw on Concrete – Irish Concrete Society Seminar

Over the past two winters Ireland has experienced temperatures consistently below freezing. This has resulted in concrete being exposed to cycles of freeze-thaw, and in many cases de-icing products which have caused damage.

On Tuesday 29 March 2011, the Irish Concrete Society are hosting a half-day seminar on ‘The Effects of Freeze Thaw on Concrete’. This seminar is targetted at clients, designers, contractors, suppliers, specifiers, academics and researchers, and will be held in the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, Naas Road, Dublin.

This seminar will discuss the causes of this damage, current practice with regard to specification and workmanship and possible solutions to prevent this damage occurring. Dr Roger West (TCD) will chair the seminar, and the speakers include Dr Mark Richardson (UCD), Mr Gordon Ellis (Mattest) and Mr Brian Curtis (Curtis Enterprises).
