Evening Lecture – The Design of the New Forth Crossing, Monday 7th April 2014

EVENING LECTURE – The Design of the New Forth Crossing

The construction of a new bridge across the Firth of Forth in Scotland is underway. The new bridge pushes the boundaries of cable stayed bridge design in a location which is synonymous with innovative bridge engineering. On completion in 2016, the New Forth Crossing will take its place adjacent to the iconic steel cantilever bridge of 1890 and the record setting suspension bridge of the 1970’s.

In this lecture, Mr. Peter Fitzgerald, Chartered Engineer, Principal Engineer Ramboll Consulting Engineers, will outline the challenges faced by the design team. The proposed construction methodology and the construction work completed to date will also be presented.

A flyer to publicise the event is available here.
