The Fourth Wall – a season of Film and Architecture

The Irish Architecture Foundation in partnership with the Irish Film Institute presents ‘The Fourth Wall’, a season of Film and Architecture which will run at the IFI in Dublin from 5th to 16th of May 2011.

Rolex Learning Centre, Lausanne

Curated by Nathalie Weadick, Director of the Irish Architecture Foundation, and Samantha Martin-McAuliffe, UCD School of Architecture, this collaboration explores the relationship between architecture and the moving image. To view the list of specially selected films (many which are being shown for the first time in Ireland) please click here.

In particular, Wim Wenders short film ‘If Buildings Could Talk (3D)’ is sure to be one of the highlights of the festival. Created for and shown to great acclaim at last year’s Venice Biennale, the film explores the Rolex Learning Centre in Lausanne, designed by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of SANAA, a building comprising a single, flowing space of thousands of square metres.

In addition, there will be a specially curated selection of footage from the IFI Irish Film Archive, and a symposium organised by GradCAM (Graduate School of Creative Arts and Media) in collaboration with UCD, IAF and the IFI.

BOOKING OPENS WEDNESDAY 27 APRIL at: www.ifi.ie
